Could this be a repeat of Nixon and Agnew?

Agnew resigned, Nixon replaced him with Ford, Nixon resigns, Ford becomes President. Could Pence do the same thing and resign? Trump appoints a new VP and then he resigns.

Agnew was in trouble for tax evasion before Nixon was facing impeachment. So, per the 25th Amendment, Nixon appointed a new VP. The Dems have a dilemma. If they find dirt on Pence and force him out, Trump gets to pick a new VP. If Trump is forced out of office, Pence becomes the President and pick a VP. The Dems can't win without simultaneous impeachments, an impossibility.

Nope Pence hooked his political wagon to the Trump train long ago. His only chance of staying out of trouble is praying Trump gets away with turning America into a dictatorship!

Agnew resigned due to the findings of a corruption investigation for tax fraud, I believe and had nothing to do with Nixon's troubles.
Nixon appointed Ford because he had a reputation for covering up crimes due to his work on the Warren commission and was the author of the Maguc bullet theory.
Nixon knew who the corrupt ones were because he was a part of that cabal and good friends with the Walker-Bush clan

As bad as Nixon was, he wasn't nearly as bad as Trump. Nixon at least respected the institutions of our government and was intelligent. Trump is a pure psychopath and not a very bright one.

Its going to get ugly
