Car battery for 1946 ford pickup?

My friend is restoring his 1946 ford pickup early v8 and he needs a battery for it. Any idea where we could find one? Preferably cheap.

Added (1). What type does he need?

Personally, I would have gotten a 47-48 Ford Tudor. The 49 is even better.

Just stpp it… Cheap? Buy the best you can and if 150 dollars is too much that resto ain't gona happen/…/unless its been rewired its 6 volt and maybe POSITIVE ground… Try.local auto parts store or tractor dealer.

Your Old Battery You Can Rebuild.

A suitable battery is available ANYWHERE automotive batteries are sold.

Luke, just go to a good parts store and tell them what you have. They'll hopefully get you the right "type".

Preferred every time kill them when they are old. They do future noise and drippin

Cheap? Drop that word from your vocabulary!

Buy a properly sized 6 volt battery (REPEAT, SIX VOLT) and remember something that 99% of the people here have no clue about: you will connect it to the vehicle as POSITIVE GROUND! That means the battery positive (+) goes to the engine block, and the battery negative (-) goes to the starter.

If he needs a new battery cable, you can't buy one that hangs on a rack for a modern car. It must be twice as thick of COPPER wire and a modern 12 volt vehicle.

Or make your own using welding cable. That's what I use for the flathead Ford engines.

  • Amplifier connected straight to battery with on/off switch would damage battery in any way? So i did this on my ford fusion 2016 straight connected to the battery with the on/off switch but now the car does not want to start as before makes a little noise like when battery its dead but turn on after 3 to 4 seconds any suggestions? • New alternator and battery but battery still won't charge in my ford explorer 93? My battery wouldnt charge So i just replaced my alternator a few days ago knowing it would fix the problem. It appears that the alternator was not the problem. I've got a brand new alternor and when i check the battery(running car), it just stays on 12.5V and doesn't go up. I tried using it yesterday and it just drained out on me. I tried 3 good batteries already and checked if they charge in my car but they don't. Oh, the alternator came with a volt regulator.
