Buying/leasing first car? Insurance?
Ok first off, please don't call me spoiled or whatever. I'm going to be 16 soon and I don't know if I want to buy or lease DUE TO INSURANCE. I can afford a lease if I wanted no problem. I can get a Ford and Chrysler employee discount. For a used car, I'm looking at a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta SE pretty much fully loaded for around $14-15k. For leading, I'm looking at (I know this sounds Really stupid) but a 2014/2015 Chrysler Town and Country or a Chrysler 300. I know it's weird for a teen to want a minivan, but they appeal to me for some odd reason. I like the V6 Pentastar in the T&C, the safety, and the roominess. I wouldn't be afraid to drive it because it's nice and big too. But if I was to be put as an "occasional driver" while my mom is the main driver, would it be much more for a brand new (leased) vehicle than only a 2 year old used car? We tried contacting her insurance agent but he never responded… Very rude. Opinions? Please don't call me spoiled. I work hard and am a good child.
The finance company is NOT going to let a 16-year old kid LEASE a car. You can't even sign the legal contract to BUY a car until you are a fully grown ADULT. If Mommy and Daddy want you to have a car then THEY are going to have to make the purchase in their name and let you drive it until you are old enough to get your own.

You are too young to buy or lease a vehicle. Your parents would have to do so in their name. Some leases can have restrictions and age limits for its drivers.
- If you have a car accident with a borrowed car, whose insurance are you covered by? Okay, my dad just totaled my grandma's 1999 Ford Taurus wagon. He was trying to turn and we hit a Nissan Frontier. The Nissan was fine, but the Ford is totaled, and my dad has never been in accident like this ever before. Does this go under my dad's insurance or my grandma's? She did give him the permission to drive it.
