1999 ford windstar instruments panel freaking out sometimes and rough idleing?
By freaking out do you mean some of the gauges read inaccurately at times, the dash lights flicker, or the dash warning lights intermittently come on/go off? That could be something as simple as a defective or corroded fuse or relay, loose wiring harness at back of gauge cluster, a loose or corroded battery cable, or a bad gauge cluster.Rough idling can be caused by a weak fuel pump, vacuum leak, dirty egr valve or dirty iac valve, bad pcv valve or clogged pcv valve hose, or dirty maf sensor. If the gauge problem and rough idle problem are both caused by the same thing, a loose or corroded battery cable, battery low on charge, loose or corroded secondary ground(between engine block or head and firewall)defective alternator are a few of the things that can cause this type of problem. You should post another question or list more info under the comment section that describes your gauge issue in more detail because many different problems can occur at the instrument panel.
- Why is my '98 Ford windstar is running rough after a tune up? I changed out the plugs and wires and it ran good for a day or two but has a lot of hesitation at lower rpms but if I speed up it goes away. Also have a gas smell in my air conditioning when I'm stopped but not while driving. Can anyone help? I'm tired of putting money in this thing.
- Solar panel on Ford E150 van JMC Tiara Package. Van came w own solar setup but its old and solar panel is tiny. Upgradn to 100w panel? Can I use the cables and solar meter etc (setup van came with) to power the renogy 100w panel? Or do I need to get bigger cables etc
- Ford Ranger 4.0, 172,000 miles rough idle when starting after sitting overnight or after 2-3 hours. Starts 1st crank, idles rough 1 minute? Or so and then smooths out and runs fine. New heads and gaskets. Cleaned MAF sensor, throttle body and air intake sensor, new IAC valve, new air and fuel filters, new PCV valve. No smoke coming from exhaust and No check engine light. Any ideas what's causing this rough idle?
- I bought an Actron CP9125 Code Reader to try and diagnose a rough idle at cold start on a 98 Ford 4.0 engine. The rough idle had not caused? The CEL to come on. I plugged the code reader in with just the key on and pressed read and the little asterisk goes half-way across the screen one time and stops. I press the read button again and it reads 0 codes. I was thinking it would scan multiple times to check for pending codes or other issues. I tried it with the engine running and the same thing happens. Is this code reader operating properly?
