1997 powerstroke diesel Ford?
Are all 1997 Ford powerstroke diesels turbo
Ford began turbocharging their diesels in 1994 with the 7.3L 'Powerstroke'. The motor had Direct Injection.
Prior to the 'Powerstroke', you could get a naturally aspirated 7.3L (not a Powerstroke) that had Indirect Injection, and before that, a 6.9L naturally aspirated IDI diesel was available.
All Ford diesels were turbocharged after 1994, so yes any 1997 would be turbocharged.
All Powerstroke diesels are turbocharged. The powerstroke was first available in 1994 when Ford released 3 different 7.3l engines in one year, the 7.3 indirect injection (naturally aspirated called an IDI) available from 87-94, the 7.3 indirect injection turbo (called the IDIT) available from 93-94, and the 7.3 direct injection turbo (called a DIT or Powerstroke) available from 94-2004.
Nope not all. They should say right on the side. If they are turbo.
i had one 97 powerstroke turbo deisel. 7.3 with a 4:10 rearend. Then i went to a 05 powerstroke turbo. 6.0 and the rearend was a 7:33. And now i have a 09 powerstroke turbo. 6.4. With a 3:55 rearend. It pulles fine but i thought i was getting the 7:33. But the dealer told me that i didint neet the slower rearend. With all the torque in the motor now. I've only pulled a few loades
any way good. Luck oh i forget to say i have a 83 deisel. Also with the 4:10
Powerstroke diesels are always turbocharged. The 7.3 is bar none the best powerstroke to date in terms of longjevity, toughness, and simplicity. There was a 7.3 IDI, naturally aspirated, less power but the same attributes as the powerstroke 7.3. BUY IT NOW!
The 7.3L is always a power stroke turbo yes
- What is a better option Cummins or Powerstroke? So my dad and i are buying me a diesel truck and we're both a ford lover but i also love the dodge Cummins. Which would be better to own. Both are not brand new there both used and both have a good history and both only have 150k on them. What would be the better choice? The 7.3L Turbo diesel 1997 ford powerstroke or the 2002 Dodge 5.9L cummins.
- 1997 ford tbird and 1997 ford mustang parts? Can I use parts from a 97 4.6 mustang on my 97 4.6 third and can I use any suspension parts from a mustang
- I'm stuck between a Dodge 2500 cummins & Ford F250 powerstroke? I'm look at a year of 2006 to 2015 at a Dodge 2500 cummins or a Ford F 250 powerstroke what is the better?
- How long will a 7.3L powerstroke last? I have a 2002 Ford F-250 with the 7.3L powerstroke diesel engine. It had a banks powerpack system installed with turbocharger, techni-cooler intercooler system, monster exhaust, a pyrometer, waste gate actuator, trans command, and a high boost compressor wheel in 2006. It has a K&N air filter instead of a Banks RAM-AIR, don't ask why. (RAM-AIR is 100x better). I occasionally tow a 38ft. Montana fifth wheel behind it. It currently has 161,000 miles. How many more will it last?
