What is your opinion on a 2007 Navigator for a first car?
What is your opinion on a 2007 Navigator for a first car? I'm 16, and I know all about the gas, but the 2007+ do take regular gas too, so that is a plus. Also i'm aware of the size, so i would want the regular wheelbase not the "L". Has anyone gotten experience with ford trucks? Aside from the 1998-2005 which had major problems and spit spark plugs. I really do want one but all i find em with are 115-130k miles? What is your opinion on them at that range, and do you think it will last long? I plan to do a lot of maintenance on it as always, but i don't really trust other drivers who have owned it before me. How long will it last if it was abused a bit? How many owners is too many in your opinion? Sorry for the long question but i would really appreciate some answers and some thoughts on what to look out for besides tranny and suspension issues. Whadaya think? Let me know.
Fords are the only truck or car I'll own, I have a 98 f250 we've had since new and that was my first car. It spit one plug and hasn't done it since. Going on 280000 miles and am just starting to get into major repairs. Just had the engine rebuilt and aside from that every repair I've done or needed to has been on schedule with how long the part should last. I.e I got 150000 rough miles out of the ball joints before I changed them again. Every car has it's issues but a well maintained one will last. Another example would be the transmission has no signs of excessive ware and will not be needing a rebuild for a long while after 280000 miles of towing boats and tractors. Hope my experience can help you out. Also if you don't know a whole lot about cars get someone that does who can look at it before you buy, there are signs of good bad and abused cars and a well trained eye will be able to get under the truck and hood and spot the faults by sight and sound. My personal opinion, over two owners is too many. Major things to look for are leaks, body panels lining up meaning the same amount of space at the top of the panel as the bottom, and cold starts. Excessive smoke out of the exhaust could mean burning oil or leak. There's really too much to list so if you don't feel comfortable have someone experienced go along. As for your first car, get what makes you happy because you have to live with it.
I have a 2008 Expedition, same vehicle as the Navigator. I really like it, it's comfortable and roomy. If you can handle 15MPG around town. I can so that's not a big deal for me. It might be tough for a 16 year old to afford to keep gas in it.
As a first car? I wouldn't for my kids at all. But I don't know what your background is. Generally though, I wouldn't consider a Navigator as a good first vehicle. Personally I'd recommend to go a little smaller to start. But that's just my opinion nothing more
A large SUV is not a good first car. First, fuel economy is terrible, and insurance cost is high. But the most important reason that SUVs are not good first cars is that inexperienced drivers can't handle them in emergency situations. ( I know, you're a good safe driver, and you won't ever encounter an emergency situation). They are not as nimble and quick as a smaller car and any attempt to make sudden moves can easily result in roll-overs.
Ford 150's have a rear suspension problem, the spring shackles. On the front end there rods running from the A-frame to the frame, the orange bushing on the frame end tends to wear out quickly.
I don't think so in terms of fuel economy and insurance as a disadvantage, but the advantage is that you can fit more passengers or things in the SUV compared to sedans, coupes, and station wagons. I would suggest you to get a minivan instead because a minivan fits about the same number of passengers compared to an SUV.
A Lincoln Navigator for a sixteen year old new driver? A total NO. In fact, in my opinion, this vehicle, this monstrosity of metal should have never been built. You acknowledge the gas but you have no idea how difficult it is to park, to change lanes, to stop and to handle in slippery weather. Why on the planet are you attracted to this aberration of the automotive industry? This is a Hummer in disguise. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR ANYONE.

- What's the best truck in your opinion? Personally, the truck I prefer is chevy over anything, and I like their duramax trucks those things are fast like no other, and dependable. I would also like to hear from Dodge, and ford fans as well. If you have alittle time to give me opinions on why you think which truck is the best. Everyone is welcome to comment, and I promise I'm not trolling, and I will respect all of your opinions.
