2002 red escort wagon, is it a good car?

It's my great grandparent's old car. They've kept it in pretty good shape and its not rusted. It would be free but it is extremely ugly in my opinion and I would have to learn how to drive a stick if I took it. My question is, do you think its ugly or am I overreacting? I might just be overreacting to it's looks because I guess I'm comparing it to what my parents got my brother when he turned 17 (2013 ford focus) but at the same time I hate the look of all wagons and I really don't want to have to learn to drive a stick before I can even drive my own car. Should I take it or just wait and save for a good car? Opinions please?

You shouldn't turn down a ford escort WAGON with a MANUAL transmission. That sounds like such a fun little car. Learn to drive manual now. It only takes a week of driving to get the hang of it.
