How to find the Radio ID or VIN in a Ford f150 2012?

I need one of these 2 for Sirius XM but I can't get the Radio Id to show up. When I press the sirius button it just says no Sat radio connected or something and I found a 17 digit code but I tried it and it didn't work so maybe I going the wrong VIN? I got it from the passenger side dash from the outside. For the radio I'd I've tried numerous ways I've seen online such as AUX and preset 1 at the same time. Menu and preset 1 at the same time. Is there a special trick for the 2012 or am I just being dumb and not doing it right? Also the truck doesn't have a big display screen if that matters.

Any Ford dealer can tell you

Your Satellite radio has a separate serial number printed on the radio. However, Satellite is an add-on option - a plugin module and wiring, that installs inside your radio, not frequently installed on most cars or trucks, even though the radio looks like it has it.

The front panel doesn't change, just a module inside the radio. The same thing goes for the aux module or bluetooth which are features the dealer can add depending upon the other package items sold with the car. You may also need an antenna kit installed, if the little stub antenna is not already factory installed.

You may need to see your Ford Dealer to buy the module and get it installed. If it is installed, they can get the Radio ID for you to register with SiriusXM.com and activate that radio on your contract. If you don't have a contract, you may wish to call Sirius about available options, billing and payments before you attempt to activate.
