How much is a 1986 ford f350 turbo diesel worth?
I'm in the market for a truck. Came acros a 1986 ford f350 turbo diesel, 4 door, 4wd. Manual 4 speed trans. Was wondering what someone would pay once it was running and driveable? Right now the guy says that he had it running last summer but its been sitting for a year and now it doesn't run.
also, what might it need to get running again? Any common areas to check on diesels? I'm not too knowledgeable on diesels but know tons about gas engines and am VERY mechanically inclined and have extensive electrical knowledge.
I would steer clear of this. If it ran good, I might give $500.00. But not running, I wouldn't bother. The problem with older diesels is that they are hard to start if they're cold. So, people use starting fluid on them which helps them start but ruins the engine. At the very best you are looking at a fuel pump and new injectors. Most likely the heads need rebuilt also.

It's a flat bed with the original rack that matches the paint job. Everything is all original. Used as a hay truck during summers and stored in a barn during the rest of the seasons. No rips or tears in the seat, just a few minor dings here and there but everything works.
