Won't car companies release old-style vehicles?
Old-fashioned vehicles but with modern internals? Like the Chevrolet in Pulp Fiction or 1966 Ford Thunderbird and such. They're so beautiful
There's a lot more to it than that. Those old designs wouldn't pass modern safety standards, and those designs flat out aren't fuel efficient. Ford tried to bring back the classic T-bird style, and it was a monumental failure. There's no money in it.
It's not a case of refusing to release these models. It's economics and market forces.
Tooling up for new vehicles cost literally millions. Selling such a vehicle has limited market, hence economic madness for any mas producer.
There's a small market for retro vehicles with modern essentials.
One company providing such a service is based in UK selling cars looking like iconic E type jaguars. From outside looks identical. Seats, dashboard etc almost identical. Running gear such as brakes etc very modern so handles much better.
Not cheap.
So there's a limited market but getting a small scale manufacturer to produce is difficult as folk like returns on investments.
You would need to show size of market. Provide data to prove it. Costing needs to be carried out. Profit margin needs to be adequate to sustain any business plan.
Copyright agreements reached etc.
Because swapping out "the internals" isn't as easy as you make it sound. Sure, you could give it a modern dashboard, no problem.
But fitting a completely different engine, shocks, brakes, etc into a frame not designed for them is not anywhere near so simple. In addition, the chassis itself in many cases will not meet modern NTSA regulations - Classic cars get grandfathered in, but a new car (which this would be), would not.
I do agree though, old cars have much more personality than the samey-whichbrandisthatone look of modern cars.
- Will the old style 10SI delco alternator charge in both directions of rotation? I built this alternator in 1985 and adapted it to my 1950 Ford tractor when I converted the tractor from 6 to 12 volts. It just failed recently. Originally, 29 years ago, I seem to recall having a problem with the rotation as far as charging is concerned. Whatever problem I had, if any, was fixed b/c it has been charging since then. Looking at the drive pulley, it rotates clockwise. Is this an issue I will have to deal with? Or will it charge in both directions?
- Why don't car companies remake some of their classic car models if people like them so much? Of course safety is in mind because everyone would freak out if they didn't have a seat belt and air bags in every inch of the car, but why can't some of the companies just remake their best selling car models? Dodge could remake their 1948 Sedan and Ford could remake their 1949 Custom. I could list more but I can't think of any more classics.
- Why does Christy Ford's lawyer want Kavanaugh to testify first if they won't release any information to defend himself against? That makes no sense. The accused should be given the opportunity to face their accuser AFTER their accuser has testified. The way it stands now he would not be given the opportunity to counter anything she says.
- My '83 Ford Ranger clutch won't release? It started by getting hard to shift into third gear when driving. Soon after, it wouldn't release whatsoever. Got new cylinders. Bled the system for three days. Got another set of new cylinders and bench bled it. Didn't help. The pedal feels mushy. Took the tranny out. No spring loose from the Clutch as some mentioned might be the problem. Everything appears to be as it should be. Any ideas?
