Will my Ford warranty cover the repairs I need on my vehicle?

I bought my car brand new from Ford in 2014. I'm still under manufacturer's warranty as I have not reached 36,000 or reached my 3 year mark. The warranty currently will cover bumper to bumper. I was driving home and suddenly my car felt very strange to drive-the steering felt off-when I turned my music down I heard a loud grinding noise as I turned my wheel. With further examination of the car it looks like the lower control arm (I think that is what it is called) on the front passenger's side has snapped right in half. Very clean break. I did not run over or hit anything. I know that this part is something that SHOULD be covered under my warranty, however, last year someone hit my car in a parking lot while I was in a store and left. They damaged the front driver's side bumper, as it was no big deal I neglected to fix it because I honestly haven't had the money to fix something that wasn't affecting my car. Now I'm nervous Ford will see the damaged bumper and assume I did something to the car and refuse to cover the cost of repairs. Any advice on how I can get my repairs covered as I do believe there was a defect in the part that has broken? I'm not sure how to approach this when I speak with Ford.

Remember that the local Ford DEALER does NOT make the final decision on warranty work. The FIRST thing you need to do is talk to your own insurance company and THEN have your car towed to the nearest Ford dealership. Once THEIR mechanics have inspected the damage and determined the possible cause, THEY will discuss the repairs with the factory's warranty people and determine if it can be repaired at company expense. If they agree to making repairs, then you're home free. If not, you CAN go back to the company's warranty office and argue your case, and MAYBE come up with a better result.

Any way you go, the car IS going to need repairs, so there's no sense in putting it off. Warranties do not cover any part damaged from a accident. As far as the lower control arm probably not going to be under the warranty either. Since that would fall under wear and tear. Not warranty covered Either Ford will fix the problem under warranty or your insurance company will fix it as accident damage. But you have to start somewhere to get it fixed. I suggest going to Ford first. Then do not tell them about the previous issue. If they bring it up the worst thing they can say is no. You still need to get it fixed no matter what.

  • Why do some companies like Ford have a 5year warranty and others like Hyundai have a 10year warranty? Does the company with the longer warranty trust in their product longer? Or they know that the owner will have to do a ton of repairs and without a back up no one would ever buy them?

  • Will my ford warranty cover these issues with my car? I have a 2013 mustang v6 with performance package. It has a factory 36000 mile warranty. When I accelerate hard the engine has a ticking noise that I believe is from the valves and the acceleration is delayed when going from a stop, as well as very sluggish. I plan on taking it to ford tomorrow but would the warranty cover all this and would I be offered a loaner vehicle if they keep it overnight?
  • Pay for the repairs on the piece of junk, or buy something reliable from a dealer? I just bought an 03 Ford Escape for $3000 in Hawaii. Did a pretty thorough inspection, took for a test drive, and bought the car from a local. Next day, all hell breaks loose. Engine begins misfiring (needs new coil paks), sway bars almost fall off, back door doesn't lock, and then the battery dies on me (could be the alternator). At this point I'm unsure wether to spend all this money on repairs, trade in and buy from a dealer, or sell on Craigslist and buy from a dealer.
