Why don't teenagers like the Crown Vic?
Since I was young, I felled in love with the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. Damn hearing that full size American sedan thunder down the street made me feel like I'm in a movie. I'm in college and I know that in a few years I will get my own Crown Victoria p71. I'm just wondering and can't understand why teenagers don't like this car. It is like a tank and has ridiculous space. Plus, it is far from having that "grandpa" look that so many people are talking about. If you put some nice tinted windows, an aggressive looking push bumper, some antennas on the trunk and remove the rim covers, the interceptor will look like it came out of Fast and furious. Not to mention the great muscle car sound that the iconic 4.6L V8 engine is providing. Also to add, it is all heavy duty. Heavy duty breaks, heavy duty transmission, heavy duty cooling system and heavy duty suspension. So basically you can rev that baby and make as many burnouts as you want, drift as much as you want and your engine will never burn. Note this, #1 police and taxi car for more than 10 years. This means a lot! Rear wheel drive, so therefore, better handling. Bone stalk, cheap car to buy and easy to repair.
So, after all this, hope you are enjoying your Civic.
Because teenager aren't looking for tanks or police interceptors for Pete's sake. Small, manvuable, modern and fuel efficient cars is what they're looking for. A lot of teenagers also live in the city or often visits so space is very important. And a "full sized American sedan thunder down the street" is not quite suited for busy streets and congested bends and certainly not for finding a park.
It's a very old model car, and when you drive one, everyone knows it. Plus there just aren't that many around these days.
I don't know why it is a four door Mustang. They hold up in a wreck. Small cars do not. BTW Crown Vics are some of the best cars on the road.
What teenager wants to ride around in a cop car?
I believe there were many better than that one, being that it was the last generation of the Vic. It changed a lot over the years, and is nowhere near as big as the earlier ones.
If I wanted a cop car, I wouldn't bother with a Vic, or a Chevy Caprice.
I'd go back to when they ran Dodges.
FWIW, all my remaining cages are Ford products.
A Crown Vic is a full sized car. It's expensive to fill up and difficult to park. It's just not an obvious choice and it has that seniors car image. RWD is fun and all, but all that weight and the less than sophisticated suspension detract from the fun. Being a fleet car, the lack of improvements also is disappointing. The Ford Modular V8 you are talking about has yet to recover to the hp levels of the muscle car era. And to conclude, go look at the 0-60 times. Just about any compact economy car with a manual transmission can outrun it.
I agree! Get one and push those civic drivers around with it.
- Opinions about a 2007 Ford Crown Vic? Thinking about buying this 2006 crown vic. I heard the air ride suspension is a headache to fix. This seems like a good tough car, they use them for Taxi's don't they?
- Is Mercury Grand Marquis/Ford Crown Vic a good 1st car? Looking for a first car and I'm really interested in a Grand Marquis/Ford Crown Vic and want to know opinions on the car as a 1st car and in general. They seem to be well maintained and used lightly by a generally older crowd. Opinions?
- Ford Flex or Ford Edge for teenagers first car? Money isn't a concern in this question just want to know which vehicle is better for a 16 year old male. And they will have the Limited fully loaded trim.
- Can I use 50/50 Prestone GREEN coolant in a 2008 ford crown vic Police interceptor? The owner's manual recommends using Motorcraft premium Gold Engine coolant with bittering agent (YELLOW COLORED) but is it ok to just use the green stuff?
