Why doesn't Ford make a V-8 eco-boost?

Everybody wants to know why Ford doesn't make a V-8 eco-boost

Because the V8s are already awesome and don't need turbocharging.

I suspect you'll see an Ecoboost Coyote, when Ford decides to add direct injection to the Coyote. I would wager you're going to see it replace the supercharged 5.8L trinity V8 in the Shelby variant.

Ford designed the new 5.0 DOHC Coyote motor with the capability to add Ecoboost to later models. (Ecoboost is just a combination of direct injection and turbocharging, allowing Ford to run a turbocharged engine on lower octane fuel).

They have the capability to do it. Presumably, the reason they haven't yet is because there isn't enough of a market for the resulting fire snorting 700 horsepower monster to warrant putting it in production. And like others have said, I doubt they would call the resulting engine "Ecoboost."

Because there's nothing eco about a V8 to begin with and putting a turbocharger on it wouldn't change that

Everybody who? Nobody who understands the concept behind them would ask that. The "eco" part of the name is for economical.

Ecoboost I-3 - 3 cylinder economy with 4 cylinder power (in Fiesta and Focus)
Ecoboost I-4 - V6 power with 4 cylinder economy
Ecoboost V-6 - V8 power with V6 economy

Ford has a forced induction V8 in the GT500, but they won't ever call it ecoboost since it's hardly economical.

Technically, they can. They can surely manufacture a V8 with 4.0 displacement with twin or single turbocharging system and give you probably a 470hp with 440 Nm of torque with 10L/100km consumption.

Most car manufacturers are holding back to manufacture these things. Its is a more on manufacturing cost consideration and on a engineering stand point it is a bit harder to design and more costly for the consumer to maintain.

But they can actually can create it if the wanted to. Modern cars becoming much more efficient in terms of material, technology, fuel consumption and power output.

In the next few years we might be able to see a small displacement engine with more cylinders. There have been naturally aspirated engines available in some countries that are compact. Let's say a 2.0L V6 with 200hp. Mclaren already has a 3.8 V8 with twin turbo rated at 600hp. Maserati (FIAT S.p.a) are experimenting on a 4.0 V10 or possibly a V12 4.0 engine naturally aspirated to have an output of 510 hp.

It sounds great. But if ford will create a V8 ecoboost it will probably go to the mustang or the next generation ford GT.

It would be to powerful and the insurance companies wouldn't insure it. The v8's make 410 hp as it is.

Because V-8's are gas hogs.
