Why did Ford tell Obama to cram his bailout money up his but?

They actually did not say that but they never took a dime of it

Why would you say that? You made your question an attack. Not worth answering

They are probably one of the few corporations that has strong moral values.

Because Ford saw the disaster coming from a long way off and started to consolidate it's business leaving it less vulnerable than the other auto makers. So was able to ride out the storm without requiring help.

Because it was taking on debt they felt they could do without and still survive.

What the hell are you talking about?

The only thing that kept Ford alive during the great recession is it's gov't contracts and fleet sales. Ford makes awful cars for uneducated ppl

You're right. Ford didn't take a dime of it. Ford took 59 billion dimes of it. But it acted all pious and called it a "loan" that it said it would pay back. I put scare quotes around "loan" because Ford has yet to pay back even one of those 59 billion dimes. I wonder how Ford Finance would react if someone got a "loan" for a car and then didn't pay anything on it for almost a decade with no mention ever of even trying to make good on the promise to pay.

Because Ford didn't want to end up like GM Government Motors.

Because Ford felt they could weather the downturn on their own. Unlike a bank a manufacturer can run a deficit for several years and eventually they can straighten out. The investment banks were required to show a positive balance at the end of the business day period. Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns and the rest got into such deep kimchee that they couldn't do that, especially with the value of bonds they were holding onto were losing value every hour they held them and they couldn't sell them for what people were offering for them.
