I had both a Duster and a Maverick from the early 1970s. The Duster was better, in the sense it wasn't as awful as the Maverick. At least it had a large trunk. Reliability, power, and fuel efficiency were typical of early '70s American cars. The Maverick, with it's anemic 6 cylinder engine, got 17 mpg at 55 mph. I didn't have the heart to check the Duster's fuel efficiency when I could keep it running right. The Maverick also had annoying quirks like a foot vent that could not be opened or closed on the driver's side unless he unbuckled and scrunched down to reach the handle. The PINTO!
