When did ford change their logo to have a curl in the middle? - 1

It was created that way since 1909. I looked it up. Back in the old days before standardized handwriting, penmanship was allowed to be more creative. It meant that people could and did develop personal handwriting styles before typewriters and magazine printing standardized fonts and lettering. Up until the 1920's people admired "fine penmanship" in writing by hand personal letters of communication, and signatures on Christmas and birthday cards and such were carefully written. In those days people wrote more often by hand personal letters and written notes rather than use a telephone, so people were more creative in their handwriting styles and little curls such as the one in the Ford logo were ways to "flourish" their handwritten signature. "Writing with a flourish" meant adding such little curls or dramatic large curlicues to their signature. We don't pay attention to such anymore because few people practice penmanship or write anything by hand anymore. But way back in the 1900s this was actually common to put a curl on a letter in an odd place to make it a distinguishing mark. It was then able for people to see at a glance if that curl was in the wrong place the product was an imitation or a fraud. Did you know that other products have such ways to identify the real product from a fake? For instance, the old "G.I. Joe" from the old Mattel corporation, to identify the real product from imitations, the real "G.I. Joe" figure had a backwards hand! So the curl on the Ford logo has an actual explanation!

The present design was adopted in 1976.
While similar too the design of the logo adopted in 1912 it is not identical.

I think the Ford logo is one of the best. Long lived, simple and yet unique and so recognised around the globe.
While over time yes it has evolved, its remained loyal to its roots.

Its also interesting see how the GM logo has seen many colour and font changes, today is also blue and white.

Here in Australia Holden (an arm of GM America) has also seen its logo evolve but this one saw massive changes. Strange as they use a lion (as in the animal) in their logo, how that came about that I don't get.
If someone is going to use an animal at least use a local animal. It's like an new Italian car maker saying they will use a Kangaroo for their logo, very strange choice.
