Wheel doesn't turn back after steering rack?

MY issue is that when you turn the wheel to make a sharp turn, say from a stop sign or something, you actually have to physically turn the wheel back after the turn. So lets say you were in a parking lot and turned the wheel to one side, probably like at least a full turn, then just took your hand off the wheel… The car would just keep doing circles until you straightened it back out.

The mechanic said it will need a wheel alignment, is this what is causes the problem because I'm going ballistic thinking about it… I have a 2006 Ford Falcon SR (Non Turbo)

They installed it incorrectly. There's no caster angle anymore.

In a sense you do need a wheel alignment, but you have some wore out suspension parts that has caused the misalignment.

Power to the people.

Hi yes as steering is only self righting when the car is in motion say at 10 mph.

You have too much tow out. An alignment is part of a rack job. He should not have given you a choice on the matter. There's no way to get it back to specs without a realign.

You need the front struts replaced. The upper mounts that turn with the steering are seized and you're torquing the strut springs that are now shifting. Buy complete struts such as Monroe quick struts. Everything in the strut is worn because of this.
