What special needs done to put a 1986 2.3 turbo engine in a 1984?
Added (1). The 1984 ford thunderbird has a original 2.3 turbo engine in it. Engine needs replaced. I found a used 1986 2.3 turbo engine out of a 1986 thunderbird. The only difference in the engines is injector size. I didn't know if the injectors would have to be swapped and or get a 1986 computer module to make it run correctly or will the 1984 computer module work ok with the bigger injectors. 1984 has 30# injectors. 1986 has 35# injectors.
That depends upon the make and exact model and whether the 1984 car had the same type of engine to begin with or the car itself was virtually the same as the 1986 model.
It could be very easy and straightforward, or it could involve extensive modifications to the bodywork, wiring looms, transmission, brakes and cooling systems.
Ask better questions, get better answers. You know precisely what you're asking about but haven't communicated any of that vital information here.
A better question would be; what doesn't need to be done?
- I need to put a different engine in my 1982 Ford Ranger Lariat and I don't know what to put in it? It's the biggest engine you could get at the time in those trucks, so it is a v8, I just don't know the exact size. Since the engine is pretty much dead that's in it I was wondering if almost any v8 could go in it's place or if it has any specific engine that has to go it in. Also any good suggestion for a good engine would be great.
- Do you think the Brand New Ford ranger needs more engine options? I think the 2.3 Ecoboost is very capable, but in many cases, stronger engines distinguish more premium (or) sportier trims from the Base trim. Do you feel that higher priced trims need a V6 to compete against others in the segment?

- For a Ford LTD Crown Victoria 1984 5.0 engine, how to drop down the RPMs on the carb idle? Electric choke thermostat is new and Throtle position sensor is new. Timing is adjusted but the RPMs are still high running at 1400. How can I drop it down to 550? Would appreciate your help greatly.
