What should I do with my car?

Hey guys and girls…
I have an old minivan it's 2000 model for Ford, as I said it's an old car so it's engine is also old and it is giving me problems, I have no money to buy a new car or a new engine so I'm thinking to change its parts one by one. Please tell me how can i do this I mean which parts I should change to make the engine run good.

Trade it in for another. It's gonna be hard to make the vehicle run without piston rings and the engine disassembled. Unless you're Fred Flintstone.

The first thing you should not do on any vehicle is try and guess what's wrong - this is a waste of time and money - take it into a good reliable shop ( ask a round) for a tuneup and safety check.

We need to know the problems it is giving you first.

I wish it was that simple sunshine what might help you a great deal is to get a workshop manual which wilted you how to take parts off it. So a worthwhile purchase.

You can't do it

You need to state what the problems are first. Whatever they are, I would strongly suggest against putting any more money into it. Keep it going for as long as you can, and save up money now. That's the best you can do.

Get a tune up first. Change the spark plugs, air filter, and fuel filter. Change the oil and oil filter. The other problems, you can ask again.

Take your 2000 Ford minivan to the local high school auto shop OR the nearby vollege automotive mechanics program and ask if they can recommend what to do.

We're far away from you and can't not talk to you and can't see the vehicle.

You say it's old, but age doesn't matter. I drive a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup every day. It's my work truck and it runs fine.

You say your minivan is giving you problems, but you don't describe any problems.

The first thing that you should do is calculate your gas mileage. That number will be a rough indication of how well your vehicle runs.

  • What car should I get for my first car? I'm 16 and about to buy my first car. I'm thinking about getting a 94 Ford Ranger (120k miles) with lifted suspension, off road tires, and a prerunner bumper. Would this be a reliable car throughout my high school years? Should I get that or should I just get a 2 door coupe?
  • What RPM should my car idle while driving and what RPM should I shift? I have a 2003 Ford Mustang V6. 5 speed manual transmission. This is not the first manual car I've owned, but I'm curious. I never really look but I've read in some places that in order to save gas you should shift at 2 RPM before I used to shift at around 3-3.5 RPM. Also what's a good RPM my car should idle at while I'm in gear? Let's say I'm driving in 3rd gear. What's the ideal RPM to stay at before needing to shift.
  • Is getting a lot of miles on a car actually bad for the car if the car is well taken care of? Back story: I have been using my car to visit a guy who lives about an hour away from me, and my mother has said that I "don't need to be putting all those miles" on my car. It is a well-taken care of Ford mustang with about 125,000 miles on it, and I have not noticed any issues at all. Cars are meant to be driven, in my mind. Is putting mileage on a care actually a bad thing, or is mother probably pulling an overprotective mother of an adult child?
  • Which car should I get as a first car? Ford fusion 06 or 07 model? Or chevy avalanche 2002 z71. And last Mazda 6 04, 05 & 07. The newer the higher the price for each model(not by much). I'm a fan of each car and model style, so really want to know which last longer, cheaper maintenance and good car for a college boy.
