What should I do when the Dealership says it didn't receive my payoff check? - 1
Added (1). Here's what's going on…
Last month I refinanced my car. It was at a 12% interest rate; the credit union gave us a 3.5% interest rate with lower payments and a quicker payoff date.
The payoff was mailed on the 4th of this month.
Today is the 13th and the Ford Dealership is still saying they haven't received the payoff check.
The credit union says that it sent it on the fourth and to give it time, but the Ford dealership is saying it doesn't have the payoff?
Added (2). Also the Ford dealership callers are being very rude and insinuating that I'm a liar and didn't actually refinance… And don't plan on ever paying them… Insinuated that my credit union doesn't exist…
Go to your bank and get a statement of all outgoing transactions.
Why, if you're already financing the car, are you even in contact with the dealer? If you financed through Ford Motor Credit, and refinanced through your bank, the dealer has nothing to do with your transaction, as they don't own the vehicle. It was paid off by FMC when you bought the car in the first place.
If you just bought the car, and obtained your own financing, then they have a reason to be angry. Technically, they own the vehicle until the deal is funded. As it stands, you're driving their car for free, and they haven't been paid for it.
You need to have your credit union contact the finance manager to get things straightened out. Otherwise, they have every right to take their vehicle back.
Get proof of payment. But give it a few more days too.
why would the dealer care? You old loan still applies until its paid off.
I don't see why you even needed a dealer involved.

About 80000 miles on it and the front end just catches on fire sitting in my driveway. Totaled the vehicle. Not having any insurance I'm screwed. Do I have a case ford should pay for it?
- Can I take my used car from a used car dealership, to the name brand dealership? I have a 2002 ford explorer, and the fuel level gauge is not working. Do I take it to a regular mechanic, or can I go to a ford dealership? or is there a way to do it myself?
