What's the difference in a Chevy 305 and a ford 302? - 1
The maker…
3 cubic inches.
It should be obvious. 3 Cubic inches and different makers.
One is made by GM. One is made by Ford.
One has a 3.736" bore and 3.480" stroke. The other has a 4.000" bore and 3.000" stroke.
They are both OHV pushrod V8s with 90 degrees between heads and use cross plane crankshafts.
Every single part.
To add to what lowlevel said: The 305 is an engine that is known as a boat anchor. Efficient but lacking in HP. The 302 is a performance engine used in Mustangs and F150s.
The Chevy can be modified to have adequate performance. The Ford can't as it has too short a deck height and too thin main bearing webs. Of course that is subjective as some people don't know what performance is.
A shorter list would be what is the same. Both were called 5.0 liter. Both are 90 degree block V8's.
- What is the difference between a Chevy and a Ford? And where can I get a book on how to know all about vehicles? Pretty much a "for dummies" book on vehicles lol.
- What Ford vehicles with a 302 motor comes with a 4 barrel carb (and only comes 302 with a 4bc)? I have a 1989 mustang gt motor and I'm making it carbureted and I'm looking for any vehicle with a 302 that carries a 4b. I'm going to a junkyard where they don't help with finding vehicles, so it would be helpful to know what vehicles only have a 302 with a 4bc, that way I can look it up on the website and know exactly where its at.
- Does a 305 4 bbl come factory with a 1977 ford mustang cobra? I'm thinking of buying a cobra but I wanted to know if the 305 engine came standard with it and how much horsepower and torque the engine has
- Difference between Ford Mustang GT500 and Ford Shelby? I'm just getting started into cars and would like to know the difference in the exterior, interior, engine, horse power, and everything else.
