What kind of car should I get? - 1
I'm 15 I can spend up to $20,000 on my first car. I would like to get a older luxury car, BMW and Audi are my favorite. I would just get a 2000-2010 used with low miles, but the thing I'm worried about is high matinees and low resale value. I was wondering if Acura or Volvo was high on matinees like other luxury vehicles. I would be ok with a nice non-luxury brand as long as it is fast!
To know: I dislike- ford, Chevy, Lexus, Toyota, Mercedes, Cadillac, Honda
I like- kia, Mitsubishi, Volvo, BMW, Audi, Acura, jaguar, volts wagons, masarati.
My advice is to spend $6000 or lower on your first car
I would choose Acura because it is much low maintenance than the German cars, Jaguar, Maserati and Volvo. They're quite cheap to maintain. Kia is good too but they have low resale value. Volkswagen is also good but Acura has a better reputation. Mitsubishi is just terrible.
How could you like Acura if it's basically a Honda (which you hate)?
What about Subaru? Look at their models.
Remember you have a 60% chance of wrecking your car in the first year, the result of the steep learning curve for driving in traffic. You would be better off getting something disposable. I generally recommend an older Focus… Even if you dislike them. If you see a tow truck haul your car off to the wrecking yard (which is more likely than not) would you rather see a Ford or a BMW go?
My brother made it less than a mile from home the first time he drove alone. He was hit by an intoxicated driver that an experienced driver would have avoided easily. The impact ripped the front seat loose and buckled the roof.
- What kind of coolant should I use? 1987 Ford Econoline E-250 conversion van. I live in Florida and it easily gets over 100 degrees F in summer. I have never done a coolant flush/change, but it seems pretty easy. What coolant would be best to use on this vehicle? BTW: I this van has not been driven in years, so everything needs to be changed.
- What kind of car should I get? How much will it cost? I want a convertible and a truck. Don't go telling me that's too expensive because I just want to get a price range and opinions at this point. Convertible: Used or new. Red, white, silver, black, dark blue. TOYOTA, HONDA. Truck: Used or new. Sliver, red, black. TOYOTA, HONDA, CHEVY, RAM, FORD. Which is best? What are the costs on all of these BRANDS?
- What kind of police officers get to drive the newer marked vehicles? Like a Dodge Charger, Ford Taurus, and Chevy Tahoe? The newer and nicer vehicles. Do you have to be a certain rank? Or in a certain division?
- What kind of car should I buy? With a budget of about 2,500 for my first car, I'm deciding between a 2002 Mazda Protege with about 150,000 miles, a 2004 Suzuki Forenze with about 135,000 miles, a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix with about 140,000 miles, a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer with about 160,000 miles and a 2001 Ford Taurus with about 130,000 miles. I want a car that is fuel efficient yet stylish, so please leave any suggestions from the cars listed above.
