What is the torque needed on an axle nut 1998 ford windstar?

I'm replacing the CV Axle as well as the sway bar on a 1998 ford windstar. I'm learning as I go and have been watching video's and reading about it. Some say that the axle nut needs 150 foot pounds of torque and others say 225 so I'm confused. I just want to know how necessary is it really? I have a torque wrench that only goes up to 150. Does it really matter as long as I get it as tight as possible without stripping it? Also the same thing with the sway bar can I just get it tight enough. If not how do I get that info especially on an older vehicle?

If you weigh 150 then jump on it to 225. Done. You will never strip that. They do sometimes gall on the weigh out tho.

I don't have access to Alldata while at home but if you tighten the nut to 200 ft lbs. It should be fine. Since you don't have a torque wrench that goes that high take a 3 foot breaker bar and stand on the handle. Don't slip and hit your ankle!
