What is the engine power of the 1964 Ford F 500 truck?
Wikipedia can tell you. Go there and look it up lazybones.
Hi so way back in 1964 this would have been a 5.7 litre engine with extreme amount of power. Sadly over time due to engine wear now it would be a miracle if it even starts.
Depends on engine size. 360 or 390 Y block- 200 hp at about 3600 Rpm. The 427/460 about 250 and needing premium fuel now. Diesel engine? 550 inch or so was V8 was about 250 at 2600 rpm. F500 was large 5 to 10 ton straight truck, sometime used as tow truck, depended on wheelbase length. Tune varied- 7.5 to 1 compression ratio and a no overlap cam timing meant good torque at low rpm and able to use low octane fuels but rarley got over 4000 rpm, usually did 2000 to 2800 rpm cruise. Second tune was 8+:1 one and 20 degrees overlap- extra 500 rpm and extra 50 hp SAE rating- this was for the highway haulers. SAE ratings were 20-30% more than 'Wheel ' ratings that became required in 1975 give or take.
Not a lot by today's standards. Going by the trap speed of drag racers of the day lots of manufacturers were lying anyway. Google the specs yourself why does some number matter anyway?

- $500 truck with 250,000 miles. Is it worth it? I was looking at used pick-up trucks online and I found a $500 Ford F250 XL with about 243,000 miles. I love the price of it, but with that amount of miles, is it even worth the buy? There have been no accidents, or recalls or anything. There seems to be a bit of rust, but I don't care much about that. Any suggestions? I d hate to see it stop working after only a few weeks of usage.
