What does Immobiliser malfunction message on a Ford Kuga?

I recently had a non- start with my Kuga and a message that said "Immobiliser malfunction. Service required". Engine would not start and brake pedal was hard to press. I went back to " square 1" a couple of times exiting and locking the car as usual then unlocking etc. After a few cycles the car started as normal and has been ok ever since. I had the problem checked by a Ford dealer but nothing could be found. Their techincal explanation was that it was a glitch. Can anyone be a bit more helpful?

The brake pedal is always hard to press when the engine is not running as there's no assistance for the brakes
Ford are probably correct

If the fault was not found on Fords fault finding when connected to car ( it reads ecu fault codes ) it can be hard even for technicians to resolve.
Ford at this point are probably correct. However if it occurs again. Try and get a diagnostic check run before clearing the fault. This then may? Be more helpful in locating area of issue. If immobiliser is at fault? This can be changed and reset ECU etc

Could be a faulty key transponder chip.

Next time it happens try a different key. The immobilizer system isn't recognizing the key and is disabling the fuel pump.
It's hard to diagnose an intermittent problem with the security system.

Hi if only sunshine Ford computers need a lot of explanation.

I have a ford focus 2014 model, The fuel pump was changed after changing the car refused to start and what i saw on the screen is immobiliser malfunction. I went to ford dealers they advised that i should go with the spare key and try starting the car which i did after removing the battery heads and then try starting with the spare key, But the car stiil refused to start.WHO will help me.

I also have a 2013 kuga same problem wouldn't start and saying immobiliser malfunction service required tried both keys and nothing left if about 30min and now it works ok it seems like this is a common fault
