Should I get a truck or a Jeep as my first vehicle?

So I'm 16 about to turn 17 and looking to buy my first vehicle. I'm deciding between either a 4 door 4X4 truck (either a Ram or a Ford) OR a two door Jeep Wrangler manuel transmission. I love them both but unfortunately can only have one. I will almost definitely be buying them new.

A little background information: I live in Houston and would primarily use it as a daily driver but go hunting about ten times a year and I like to play in the mud. I will be going to college once I graduate so is one better for a college student over the other. I plan on joining into the ROTC in college and serving in the military after I graduate. I don't know if I will be stationed over seas or here in the states. I like to go fishing at least once or twice a month. I love Jeep wranglers but I also love trucks and their utility purpose. I will most likely (hopefully) be going to college somewhere in the south like AandM or Auburn or LSU. I do enjoy going off roading and mudding about once a month or so on top of hunting.

I'm just looking on some advice from people who have owned either or who think one would be better for a college student or my situation over the other.

I feel like a jeep because i truck is too big and a jeep is the new thing plus its easier to drive

I would definitely go with the jeep they are much better offroad, get better gas milege, and will outlast any ford product. If you do get a truck, get a toyota, they will last longer than any other truck especially ford.

A truck is the lesser of the two evils cause jeeps have higher tip over rates.

And jeeps and teenagers just don't do well together.
