Transmission Oil Issue?
Carelessly, I made two mistakes:
I have a transmission leak; every so often, I have to add transmission oil:
1. I didn't notice until now, but, so far, I have put half a quart of high mileage transmission fluid, but it turns out it's not ATF +4 (recommended by Chrysler) it's transmission fluid for Ford and Honda cars.
2. Today, as I was about to level the fluid in my transmission, I confused the oil bottles, and I accidentally added (just a bit) of engine oil to the transmission. I quickly realized it.
Based on the above, do I need to replace the transmission fluid completely?

In a 20 year old car, it won't make any difference!
When was the last tine the trans filter was changed? If it's been a while, then ( if you will be doing the work ) drain the trans, add a new filter & fill with the correct trans fluid
Get the leak fixed.
First best answer to Happy Gramps - if the filter is old, drain, replace filter, and fill. If the filter is not old, just drain and fill. No point in having engine oil circulating, even if it is not a specific problem. It will also take you closer to the proper fluid in the transmission (not that I think it is a big deal).
I'm going to take a wild guess that everything will be alright, but I do not really know for sure. A transmission flush gets 100% of the fluid. Some people choose that because changing the fluid only gets 2/3 or 3/4 of it. Fluid is still left in the torque converter and coolant lines. On an old car, I would recommend good, clean fluid, and hope that it lasts a long time. 50,000 miles is about when it should be done. Some people wait longer. Other people do it sooner.
Try going under the car and tightening all the pan bolts. It's an easy job. It takes about 10 minutes. Do not overtighten them. Some pans are aluminum and the lip can get bent when smashing it down into the gasket. So overtightened bolts can cause a leak. The bolts can loosen a bit though or not be properly tightened, and that is a common thing causing leaks. You need a ratchet, extension, and socket. Just go around the edge tightening each one. Use your strength and tighten them snug and strong, but do not use brute strength.
Measure twice, cut once. You should have been paying attention when adding any type of fluid to your car, so expensive if it goes wrong. I would just get transmission service, which means changing the fluid, filter, and gasket.
You need to have the transmission flushed and then have the ATF pan removed and replace the ATF filter. You're going to be lucky if you don't end up having to replace the transmission dufus.
Why you even adding ATF in the first place? The only reason you're ATF would be low is because of a leak somewhere.
Half a quart or just a bit? Which is it?
I would drain all the fluid and replace the filter, better safe than sorry. Plus, the cost of the fluid is nothing compared to rebuilding the trans.

- 2012 Ford Fusion SE transmission issue? A while back I started driving from a complete stop and my car wouldn't shift to a higher gear. I pulled over, made sure I was in drive not low, put the car in neutral and attempted to drive again. It drove and shifted however the car seems to have less power and shifts later than before this happened. Any idea why this happened, and/or if I need to have a repair done and what that repair would be? The car has almost 87,000 miles.
