How much did you put in? A pint? A quart? Two quarts?

Just change the fluid

If you realized your mistake right away and did not start the vehicle, you're only inconvenienced, not screwed. Assuming you didn't start/drive it, change the fluid and you should be good.

Moment's distraction?! People that go through the trouble of finding a small enough funnel to pour oil down the ATF dipstick hole shouldn't be under a car hood!
Tow the vehicle to a mechanic and have the motor oil flushed out. Don't start the motor.

Drain and flush everything, then fill with the correct fluid. You should be OK.

The car's transmission needs flushing and a new filter. That will be expensive and may still not remove all the risk.

It's not that big a deal. Have it towed to a place that performs transmission flushes, pay them $100-150 or so, problem solved.

Drain and flush it all, make sure to drain torque converter, too. (get the book). Do not start until your thoroughly satisfied all motor oil is out. Probably time for a change, anyway. Might wanna change filter at same time.

Moments distraction isn't it.

Did you start the engine yet?
Did you drive the car?
If you didn't do either, then drain the trans pan.
Does your trans pan have a drain plug?
Remove the trans pan.
Clean it with solvent.

If you started the engine and drove it, you have made a lot of trouble.

The transmission and torque converter need to be drained/flushed.

You need to install a new trans filter.

Probably I'd drain/flush the fluid again, in a short time.

The problem with the engine oil in the automatic transmission is the clutch packs (friction material) and the bands (friction material) don't like slippery lubrication.

ATF is friction modified hydraulic oil.

You will have to have it flushed. It will not be good for the rubber seals inside.
