Would this car be worth getting?

I found a Ford Taurus 2004 SEL with 57,000 miles for $5822. There are no problems with this car and it drove pretty nice. I don't really know too much about cars and this will be my first car. Do you guys think that the taurus is worth the price?

Added (1). Forgot to mention that it also has leather seats.

That's a little high for a 10 year old Ford; but if it is in EXCELLANT shape, it should last for about 300,000 miles! Those are good cars. I've been a mechanic for over 50 years!

NO I have had three Taurus and all of them started out great and slowly but surely everything started going wrong. I would pass if I were you… Go for a Toyota Chevy or a Honda's. They have good reputations.

That's a great price for that car, make sure to take it to a trusted mechanic to make sure it doesn't have any issues that may detract you from buying it. If it all checks out, and you drive it and like it, I'd say go for it. It has barely any miles on it, and will last you for quite a while. I have a 2004 Taurus, and I love it to pieces. They're great cars.

Average retail for that car is $6,875 and average wholesale is around $4,500. That particular year does have some minor issues. An occasional problem is failure of the fuel pump which will cost you around $350 to repair. Lower ball joints are also a problem area with this year and they will cost you around $225 to repair. Another problem area only applies to Flex-Fuel vehicles. The Flex Fuel Sensor Module occasionally fails and with cost around $75 to repair. Other than these problems it is a solid car that will serve you well. The 2005 and up suffer from non of these problems. I would purchase the car assuming these problems may arise. If this is a dealer then he is not too high on the car at all and is actually selling it for around $1,000 under book value. Ask yourself why is he selling it that cheap? Have the car looked at by a trusted mechanic before you even consider buying it. It may be a flood car, or it may have been severely wrecked and rebuilt. That will be money well spent. If this car checks out ok, my advice would be to buy it even if you have to pay the $5,822 he is asking which is a very good deal for this car.

  • 2005 Bmw 745i worth getting? There's a 2005 Bmw 745i for sale at a dealership for 11k. Its a V8 engine and wastes a lot of gas I assume. I need a car for me and my girlfriend and my baby boy since I just sold my old rusty 1992 Ford Taurus. The car has more than 100,000 miles on it. I'm not looking into leasing a newer model car because I do not want to pay a lot of money. So my question is, if you were in my situation would you lease it? And how much would you put down for a deposit?
  • What would my 92 ford ranger be worth trading for? It's a 1993 ford ranger 5 speed, 4 cylinder, 2.3 liter with 390XXX miles on it but it still runs great. Any thoughts of what I could trade this for?
  • Is getting a lot of miles on a car actually bad for the car if the car is well taken care of? Back story: I have been using my car to visit a guy who lives about an hour away from me, and my mother has said that I "don't need to be putting all those miles" on my car. It is a well-taken care of Ford mustang with about 125,000 miles on it, and I have not noticed any issues at all. Cars are meant to be driven, in my mind. Is putting mileage on a care actually a bad thing, or is mother probably pulling an overprotective mother of an adult child?
  • I'm getting my cdl next year, is it better to have experience driving a bigger vehicle before i get my cdl? I'm getting my class a cdl?
