If you didn't fix why the light came on it won't go off. If you fixed the problem and disconnected the battery cables for several minutes and it came back on then you still have a problem
Either the bulb is bad or the previous owner removed it rather than fix the problem that caused it to come on and stay on.
Gotta be a connection in the wires under your Hood

Ford Triton V10 when heading up a hill sometimes the engine will cut out and the ABS light on the dash comes on and goes out. The engine continues to run and we get home just fine. Seems like power is getting cut off or something.
