Vin number problems here. Please respond fast?
Okay so… I almost totaled my car last summer, and my father fixed it up for me. And when i went to go get a title and whatever they asked me for the vin number of the car i got the parts from, we tryed to contact the guy we got the parts from and we can't get ahold of him and we've been trying to for months now… I need my car. Is there any way we could get around this? I have a 2002 ford taurus
Only the office that issues titles in your unknown location knows what the rules are and whether or not there are any other ways to get your title.
I doubt there are, or they would have said "Get the VIN of the vehicle parts were from or…" and given you an alternative then and there.
Sometimes they will accept an "affidavit" and other times a bond will need to be posted. DMV is trying to stop the market for chop shop parts. So try stating they were not from a single car to the best of your knowledge and provide them with the name of the person you bought the parts from.
Tell them you got parts from different sources like craigslist. Junk yards and stuff like that
Sell it buy a clean one.

- Can Ford trace my vin number and give me details about previous owners on my 66 mustang I have a 1966 mustang and i heard that if you go to a Ford dealership that the can give you the list of owners, but i don't know if they can since the vin number is only 11 digits and not 17. I can't use the data plate because its not original.
