This is for all you mechanic type of guys?
I just bought a 2000 Ford Taurus SE. Same day I bought it I had to buy a brand new battery. And it's has 2700997 miles on it. Transmission seems to be slipping. I didn't pay a lot for it but If tranny is going then thats going to be worth more than the car is actually worth. Was wondering if i should just sell It or junk it and get my money back out of it. It has brand new tires but I don't know. What do you think? I need help making a descision.
I really hope you didn't pay more than $500 for it…
Choice of three:
1. Swap the battery back out, change out the tires and junk it.
2. Drive it til' it dies.
3. Go get a used or rebuilt tranny… Should be plenty around fro that make/model.
This car has 2,700,997 miles on it? I will assume you mean 270,099.7 miles. The car is not worth the price of the transmission unless it runs perfectly and is in good shape. You could buy a used transmission and have that installed but that really depends on what shape the car is in. Only you know that, so you have a decision. Unless the car is really nice, I would remove the new tires and junk it.
Drive it till it dies. Transmission failures are common in them so even a used one would cost more than the car is worth.
I would get a price of getting a "used" tranny installed, which might be a better use of your money.
According to your post, this vehicle has over 2 million miles on it? I hope it is a typo. If it is over two hundred thousand, anything can happen.
No, the car DOES NOT have two Million, seven hundred thousand miles on it. I suggest you retype this with the appropriate punctuation marks included.
The 2000 model Ford Taurus was notorious for transmission problems. If it has brand new tires on it, that's probably the most valuable thing about the entire car. JUNK IT!
Did I read that right? Over two million miles? Even if it's over 200,000 it is ready to be scrapped.
Drive it until it dies the scrap it. Tauruses are junk.
- What will take you to buy a all electric car. What minimum range would you like? I'm looking at the Detroit car show and gm and ford are really pushing electric and self driving cars. I'm wondering how most people will pay for one of these cars.
- 99 Ford Taurus: ok guys and ladies, let's wreck our brains on this? I went to store one day bought a soda, got back in my car turned the key: NOTHING. I POPPED hood no sign of anything I'd obviously suspect. Battery charged fuses good, but only half my dash indicator lights come on. Doors lock, Windows work, but get this, the running lights stay on! No key no switch just stay on. OBD Il port won't respond to diagnostic tool. Before you say PCM, think about my symptoms. I'm here waiting… Ford tech reach out and help me!
- Does a guys car/truck play a role in if you'll go out with him or not? I was just curious, mainly if girls like guys on trucks over cars or how that works? I know my girlfriend knows little about vehicles but thinks that guys should drive a truck "because it's just more manly" Just curious if girls would rather date a guy in a Mazda 3, Subaru WRX, Ford Mustang, Ford f150, Chevy 1500 or lifted s10, ranger or something As opposed to an old beater corolla, accord or something with little horse power and isn't really fun to look at or drive.
- How much you guys think it should cost? How much would it be for a cv joint replacement for a 97 ford contour and for a wheel bearing. If you're from jersey, it would help if it was nj prices. Central jersey.
