I was charged with a hit and run without insurance. What will be the consequence?

I'm 19, living in Ohio, with no previous record. I drive a Ford Taurus co signed by my mother who is the one who pays the insurance. I avoided hitting a squirrel the other day, straying left and tapping another vehicle who was in my blind spot even after I check my left mirror. Obviously feeling the contact, I looked back and she went onto a curb and kept driving. I analyzed the situation as safe to continue to drive, for no one was hurt, no car damage dealt, and she kept driving after I tapped her. She got my plate number and a cop found me and wrote me a citation for failure to control and hit and run, with no injury or significant damage to the car. The cop taking pictures couldn't even pin point where to take a shot for there was the smallest smudge of paint. She was just some snobby rich ***** who probably didn't take her benzo that day. After calling my mother, she told me she didn't pay the State Farm policy bill that month, so I won't be able to prove I was insured at that moment.

So you were driving without insurance, hit another car, and are looking for someone to blame it on it seems (based on the tone of your question).

At 19 you are an adult, responsible for your own actions. You will be paying for any damage you did, and perhaps be ticketed for driving without insurance.

Of course a ford tuarus, american made cars are very accident prone, BIG clunky, gas guzzler, cumbersome. THERE's A reason why international cars out competed them. Avoiding hitting a squirrel, but hitting a car, something sounds fishy, you must be going ver fast on a city street. Stop saying tap, its call collision or hitting another car. Since you are uninsured, you most likely will receive a bill from the other cars insurances for damages, the driver of the other car may sue you for other damages as well, if they are greedy enough.
