How much does it cost to get rust fixed?
I have a '99 Ford Taurus and it has pretty severe rust on the rear wheel wells and rocker panels. The back half of my drivers side rocker panel has even fallen off! Someone told me they might have to cut out the rusted pieces and weld in new metal, but i was wondering about how much this might cost?
You need to add a detailed picture of the car for an estimate, For a 99 it will probably cost more than the car is worth.
Had 98 Ford with similar rust issues around rear wheel wells. I ground the rust off and patched the area with Bondo auto body filler that one can purchase at many auto parts stores. Then sanded it, sprayed primer on it and painted it. Actually had done this to several vehicles and my neighbors ask me to repair their cars. A "professional" job will involve cutting out the rusted metal and replacing with new metal at over $1,500.00. Value of vehicle is such that the least expensive way is to patch it like I do. I give it 1 1/2 years before it needs to be patched again. Cost of materials to patch is under $20.00. Paint it using factory original color so it will not be easily noticed.

- Is it possible to get a new transmission for an older car, if so, how much would it cost? I'm looking at buying a 2003 Ford Taurus with 85,000 miles on it. No, there are no transmission problems. I'm just thinking that if it were done now, that could add a lot of life onto the vehicle. And it would make sense because my estimate is that a new transmission is less that what this car is worth. The car is 5K.
- About how much would it cost to get a paint job on my car? I got a 2007 ford mustang, I bought it used for a really good price, i'm looking to change the color of it though. Its royal blue right now but my end goal is white with 2 black stripes, and black rims. I realize this will be pricey, but can someone give me an honest quote?
- How much does it cost to get timing chain done? Recently we bought a car 08 ford crown victoria at a car auction. It had a blown head gasket and we had a friend fix it for us, he put it all together and now car won't start. He thinks he did the timing chain wrong. Was wondering how much it would cost to take it to an actual mechanic to redo the timing chain. Also he thinks one of the heads are bad so how much would that cost as well?
