Cyclinder 6 Misfire - After coolant line bursted? - 1

Y 2006 ford Taurus had one of the coolant lines bust, which i have since replaced. When the coolant line busted, the car did not overheat, but began misfiring. Cylinder 1,2,3 were misfiring at random intervals, so I replaced the coil pack. Those cylinders are now not misfiring, however, cylinder 6 is. I have replaced all the spark plugs, and still this one cylinder is misfiring. What else could it be? What is the worst case scenereo?

Hi facts have to faced with old cars as soon as you fix one thing something else will go wrong and need fixing. So you either spend a load of money buying a new one or spend loads of money and effort keeping an old one running.

Take the fuel injector connectors off all the injectors and clean them with water and then blow dry them with compressed air. The antifreeze is likely in your harness connectors.
I'd also remove, test and clean the EGR valve.

Dry out the ignition parts so they no longer short out.

Remove #6 ignition wire from the spark plug Insert a new spark plug in the boot. Ground the spark plug threads to a clean metal spot on the engine. Ask someone else to start the car. Don't touch the spark plug. Watch for the spark to jump across the electrodes of the spark plug. If you see a spark, remove #6 plug from the motor, make sure it's cleaned and gapped to .044. If you did not see a spark, the plug, ignition wire or coil pack is bad. If #6 still misses after you've installed a new spark plug, take a dry compression test. If it's below 100 lbs, squirt two shots of automatic transmission fluid into the empty spark plug hole. This will allow you to take a *wet compression test. If the compression increases (even slightly) you have a burned valve or bad piston rings in #6 cylinder.

  • What causes problems starting a car and the engine to misfire going over 60 mph? This problem started about two months ago. I have a 2006 Ford Taurus. So far no mechanic can figure out the problem. They have replaced all of the spark plugs (numerous times because they keep going bad), an engine coil, the crankshaft position sensor, the battery, did a tune-up, ran a $100 diagnostic test and still the problem occurs. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem? I forgot that they also did a coolant flush.

  • 2002 ford taurus coolant bubbling out of coolant tank cap? Coolant is bubbling out of the tank cap on my taurus. The coolant is a bit over the fill to line. The coolant is the normal green color. I don't think it having a bit of extra coolant in the tank is doing this. The cap itself maybe? I just bought this car and it didn't do this until today.
  • I guess #4 cyclinder misfiring? For check i removed all plug wires one by one. When it came to no.4 idle didn't change. After this, i replaced rotor arm, plugs, wires, cap but still does same thing. i can see spark from cable to cap but with no idle changes @4 what can be the problem? 2.0 Ford pinto engine with weber 32/36
