2003 Ford Taurus SES oil light and gas cap light?

My cars oil light (red) and gas cap light (yellow light down and left from the oil light) is on in my car. I used a scan tool and no codes came up. It's not leaking oil and everything is fine. I just do not know why the two lights are on? I bought the car about two months ago and the lights were on before i bought the car…
any reason they're on?

The oil light turns on when there's low oil pressure. You need to get the oil pressure checked As soon as possible, as in don't drive it any more until you get it checked. You'll likely find that you either have good oil pressure and a bad oil pressure sensor (which would be, by far, the best case scenario) or that your oil pressure is low and you either need a new oil pump and/or the bottom end of your engine is ruined which means the engine is going to be junk very soon.

The gas cap light could just mean the gas cap is leaking (bad seal) or that there's a crack somewhere in the filler neck etc., but I wouldn't worry about the gas cap light at all until you figure out the oil light problem because the oil light problem is much more serious.

For future reference, it's not a good idea to purchase a car with its oil light on. Low oil pressure kills engines and is also a sign of an engine that's about to die. Hope for the best and hope that the oil pressure sensor is just faulty, but be prepared for the worst, you might need a new engine or to scrap it and get a different car.
