2002 ford Taurus cuts off a few secs after acceleration?
OK my Taurus cranks and starts but she's shaking and sputtering like she's struggling to stay alive. When I press on the gas she dies. I have no problem cranking her back up. What's wrong with my baby?
$20-30 fix. You have a dirty IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE AND THROTTLE BODY. Go to any oil change center and have both cleaned. The IAC is easy to remove. BTW, you do not really have a "GAS" pedal at all. You only have an "AIR"pedal. Your baby is suffocating for more AIR. The iac adds more air from O2 sensors. A dirty IAC starves engine for air. THAT is what baby needs. The use of Mobil One will keep engine and sensors clean. Use BOSCH or DENSO iridium plugs for easiest starts, more power and more mileage.
Hmm is the engine light on? If it is take it somewhere to get the code checked. That will tell you what's wrong. If you let it sit without pressing the gas will it idle for a long time? If it just putters out after a while it could be your O2 sensor?
Does the check engine light come on? If you get the codes read at your local autozone or equivalent for free. This will tell you where the likely fault is. If the check engine light does not come on then Hmm.
- Car acceleration problem and idle problem. The car is a 2003 Ford Taurus? . When the car is running and in parked its making a loud consisted rev noise. However the rpm needle thingy is not moving. when i'm in drive the car acclerates on its own with the speed ever increasing. i did some googling and learned that it can be the TPS sensor or the idle air intake valve, among a million other possiblities.
- Bubbling/Gurgling sound a for a few seconds after car is shut off? Ok, so, I have a 2007 Ford Taurus SE. I just had to have the head gaskets replaced due to the engine overheating and blowing them, the car has been running fine since, but, now, any time I go 15 miles or more, and return home, for a few seconds after I shut off the car I can hear a Bubbling/Gurgling sound behind the glove box on the passenger side. I have read and some say it might be trapped air… Any ideas? Is this a serious problem?
- After running a few minutes my clutch quites fully disengaging? I have a 93 Ford Ranger v6 5sp. I replaced the slave cylinder a few months ago, while I was at it I changed tranny fluid and the clutch. Just recently it has been acting up. At a cold start the clutch works fine, but after a 10 minutes of driving it quits fully disengaging. If I take my foot off the brake it will roll forward like it is half engaged. Any ideas what to do?
- 2007 Ford Ranger rear end jerks on acceleration after a downshift at about 20 MPH? 2007 Ford Ranger 28,000 miles, 8.8" Rear axle 3:18 gears auto trans. Every now and then when I accelerate from around 20 MPH and the truck downshifts there's a small jerk in the rear end a second after the downshift. Is this normal? I just bought the truck and never had RWD before. If someone knows what the problem is that would be awesome!
