2001 ford taurus vs 1997 mitsubishi mirage?

I'm looking to buy a car and i have the option to buy the taurus off of my dad but I'm looking on craigslist and saw the Mitsubishi. I was just curious over all which one would be a better car. Both have about the same amount of miles.

Forget any ford taurus, they have problems with hvac. (heating, ventiation and air condtioning)

the litte mirage makes a great car.

The Mitsubishi is the better of the two. But off of craigslist? I'd pass…
At least with your dads car you know how well it was taken care of.

  • Transmission harsh engagement (1997 Ford Taurus GL)? When I shift from park to reverse or drive and even when i put it in park it engages very harshly. What could be the problem? Please recommend a fix.
  • Transmission fluid change or flush or both (1997 Ford Taurus GL)? I just got a 1997 Ford Taurus GL with over 133000 miles. The car is in pretty good shape but when I shift gears it shifts kind of hard. I have no idea if the trans has ever been serviced but my guess is that it need to be. Would you recommend just draining the pan, changing the filter and gasket and replenishing the fluid or should I do a flush? Not a power flush. Just using an extension hose to drain the old fluid and add new fluid. Or do you recommend both? If so, in what order?
  • What is most harder to find a 1995-2001 Ford Explorer or a 1993 to 1997 Ford Ranger? I need to know which vehicle is more easier to find nowadays and 1993 to 97 Ford Ranger or I 95 to 2001 Ford Explorer.
  • 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse or 2010 Ford Mustang? (Both V6)? Lets say both these vehicles were taken care of very well. Lets say there's a 1 mile strip and they race from point A to point B. In your honest opinion who would win? I'm just curious because me and a couple of friends are having an argument in acceleration and overall speed.
