2001 Ford Taurus, 156k miles. Today started missing and skipping, low to no power?
Idles smooth, takes off slow. Sluggish going up hill, but will go faster down hill. Push down on the gas- little change.
Ck engine light is on of course.
Any idea what it could be?
Please don't ask us to guess which of the more than 2,000 possible trouble codes set off your check engine light. Trouble codes are your friends. Get them read and then you'll KNOW where to start diagnosis. Asking people to spend time guessing when you won't even take the time to get the codes read is a waste of everybody's time.
Yes, it sounds like your car, could use a trip to Auto zone… Don't buy anything just get the codes… Then update the post, but first look in the owners manual and make sure all of the maintenance that's recommended had been done ie: air filter, plugs, pcv/ccv, fuel filter, etc…

- Looking at trading my 2011 Ford with 80k miles in with an engine knock for a newer jeep Patriot with low miles, Roll 3k negative equity? Ford Fusion has developed and Engine Knock and another mechanical issue. Thinking about getting it repaired or trading it in for a newer Jeep Patriot with low mileage. I would have to roll $3000 of negative equity over to new loan. Any thoughts?

- I own a 2015 Ford Escape with 30,000 miles and runs good. My prior vehicle had over 150,000 miles and I used Gumout Regane high mileage fuel? System cleaner. I still have a bottle of the Gumout and wondering if I used it in the Escape, would the Gumout do any harm to it? I suppose I could wait until I get 75,000 miles on it before using but I'm a 3000-4000 miles a year driver and the Gumout would go bad before using it.
