Recommend best piston rings?

What are the best piston rings out there? I've used Hastings twice and both engines end up with blow by. Ford 302.

These are good rings. http://www.totalseal.com/ But so are Hastings. I don't know why you're having problems with them unless they aren't being installed properly. I would assume you're checking the end gap and staggering the rings? Have you got the correct size pistons and rings for the blocks bore size? I had a friend make that mistake. He had the block bored and then used the wrong size pistons and rings. Of course that didn't work out well at all.

There's more to stopping blow by then just getting a different brand of rings. It is a matter of picking the right ring for expectations, correct installation and operation (including breaking in the engine).
Because clearance is the major issue- I would suggest it is a machine shop error if they are not sealing. The allowed difference between the piston and the cylinder wall is only about.007 inches and that is not much.

  • What is the best air intake for a 2014 v6 mustang? I can't decide what to get i was thinking either the ford racing intake, the 302 boss intake, lincoln i takes, or bbk. I was thinking about k&n but i feel they are a little over rated. Tell me what you think and give me some more suggestions please!
  • 2002 Ford Mustang Piston Fire-Order? I just need to know which piston is where so I can replace the spark plug on #2. I'd like proof so I don't end up replacing the wrong one
  • Is a dealership the best place to get my car repaired? I have a 2014 Ford vehicle that I haven't even had for a year yet. Someone rear ended me and now I have to take it in to repair the damage. The other persons insurance is covering the cost. Since the car is not even a year old, I want to make sure that I get OEM parts installed. Is taking it to the Ford Dealership my best bet or will I be fine taking it to a respected independent? I just want to make sure I get it back the same way it was before.
  • Had my ford transit broken into, door peeled in half, what would people recommend, van alarm or deadlocks and door strengthening? My van door was peeled in Half from top to bottom and cleared of everything inside. I'm thinking of getting an alarm that will go off if van is shaken or movement inside but I think this might be too late and the door damage done. Would I be better off getting visual locks for thief's to see then have my door reinforced inside out by my friend who's a welder.
