Rearview mirror keeps falling?
Stupid ford and their cheap plastic.
My rearview mirror keeps falling and I've tried rearview mirror adhesive to Krazy Glue and it doesn't work. I live in Florida where it's usually like everyday. Is there an adhesive that can withstand this temperature on a day to day basis? Because I don't what else to do, I can't merge safely without the rearview mirrior
Get it officially fixed
Use the correct fixing. Ford dealers and virtually every other car parts store sell the correct adhesive pads for securing metal or plastic mirrors to glass. It takes a very special adhesive for that.
Both surfaces to be fixed need to be scrupulously clean for the adhesive to work.
Get a mirror adhesive kit from auto parts store that uses silicone adhesive instead of the normal superglue looking stuff. Very thoroughly clean the mirror mount pad and the glass with isopropyl alcohol and clean oil free paper towels. I have used carb cleaner for cleaning these myself. Make sure you separate the mirror from the mounting pad before attempting to glue to windshield. There's a tiny set screw or allen headed screw that hold them together that is small and hard to see. Make sure you hold the mount tightly to the glass like the instructions will say for the specified time, as letting go early will cause a weaker bond. I live in Texas where it reaches the upper 90's to 110 degrees in the summer frequently and this works.
You need to get all the existing glue off the mirror and off the windscreen. Then degrease the windscreen with alcohol or something similar, dry it and wipe away any marks. Then, if you use a two-part epoxy adhesive, mixed in the right proportions, and hold the mirror in place while it sets (about 5 minutes for a rapid epoxy), it should withstand any temperature variations you are likely to get. There are two-part epoxy adhesives designed to work with glass and ceramics. It can take 24 hours for the adhesive to finish hardening so be careful with it for a while.
We had the same trouble with my wife's Ford. Instead of fixing it ourselves, we went to a windscreen replacement firm because they have to re-fix rear view mirrors all the time. It took them a few seconds using their specialist glue and they charged about the same as we would have had to pay for a two-part epoxy adhesive.
You can still safely merge by doing a shoulder check…
As others have already mentioned, the glass needs to be cleaned thoroughly for the glue to adhere properly.
As others said you have to have both surfaces cleaned and prepped.
List the make, model, and year.
And I would say the window has to be cool.
And maybe you need a replacement mirror or at least the bracket part.
I would suggest you pay a detail shop to evaluate it and install. They have all the cleaners an glue.
The glass and the metal mounting peg must be surgically clean.Permatex makes, what I call, the best mirror glue. The glue can't dry rock hard because the expansion of the glass and the metal tab is not the same. The glue must have some flexibility or the mount will not hold. Get the Permatex and follow the directions exactly.

- How to replace the side view mirror on a 1999 Ford Taurus? Something hit my passenger side mirror as I drove down the highway. The glass came off completely, which was easy to replace, but you can no longer adjust it because it doesn't respond to the power controls. I'm not sure how to get inside to see what's loose or broken. Any suggestions?
- How much will it cost to have my right passenger sideview mirror replaced on an 06 ford ranger? I was backing out of my friend's driveway and tore off my passenger sideview mirror. I need it replaced by a professional, but I need to know a price range. Anyone know about how much it will cost?

- 2014 Ford Focus - Plastic Part in front of Mirror? A little plastic piece on the exterior of my 2014 Ford Focus fell off. It's the triangular plastic piece that's in front of the side view mirror. I've circled it in the picture.
