Rattling noise in rear underside of 1999 ford tauras?
Makes noise when driving over uneven road. Only on rear passenger side.
If this vehicle has rear brake rotors, and not drums, reach behind the rotor, there should be a thin metal plate. This is a shield to protect the rotors and brakes from dirt, salt, rocks, etc. It is very common if you live in areas that salt the roads in the winter for the area where the bolts go through the plate to corrode, causing the plate to come loose and rattle. Give it a wiggle, if you can move it at all, chances are this is the problem. You can either put a larger washer where th e bolts go in, or remove the plate completely.
It could also be a worn strut, worn control arm bushings, exhaust heat shield, etc… But more often than not, a "rattling" as opposed to a "knocking" or "thunking" is probably just the dust shield.
1 look in your shop manual.about 25 usd any auto parts or book store
2 on a car that old with 80k plus miles id say struts are worn out. Always replace BOTH sides
3 other things ti look at.exaust system hangers, pan hard bar bushings

Read the car manual and learn to spell and to write the name of this Ford vehicle. Then, ask again using proper English grammar and not texting slang. As to the car, do you have parents to ask about this?
- What is wrong with my 01 Ford Tauras? I just bought a new battery about 3 weeks ago. I noticed my car was getting slower at starting one night while leaving Walmart and the battery light would come on and off multiple times in minutes. When I went to start my car this morning it would turn on the air was on, the wipers worked, the blinkers worked but it wouldn t fully start to the point where I could drive when I turned the ignition all the way it would "click click click" what's up with that?
- Truck makes clicking/rattling noise when in 4X4? I have to use an old '97 Ford Ranger with an auto tranny and auto locking hubs at my workplace. When you turn the electronic switch to 4X4 low or high and accelerate it makes a harsh rattling/clicking noise but the truck will still move. Does this mean the transfer case is shot and I will have to live with 2 wheel drive? Since I sometimes have to drive on grass trails it would be nice to get this thing fixed if it's a simple fix.
- Rattling noise coming from passenger side possibly engine when going up steep hills, for ranger? I ave a 2007 ford ranger and recently when going up hills there has been a rattling noise that seems to come from the passenger side towards the engine or front of the truck. What could cause this? I also recently had an oil change, and they put 5w30 in instead of the recommended 5w20, could any of this be a cause?
- There's a rattling noise on my car when pressed on the clutch? When I press my clutch there's a rattling noise but when I take my foot off or put my hand break up it stops What could this be? Why did this happen? And how much will it cost to fix? I have a 2008 plate ford KA
