What do you think of the 1983 - 88 Ford Ranger design w/the 2.0 - 2.3 Liter OHC (pinto) engines?
I'm just wondering. I use to own an 84 model w/a 2.3L in it and it seems like an easy to fix and reliable truck so I want to purchase another one that I seen off the internet for like a 1,000 dollars.
That 2.3 liter four-cylinder motor was produced 1974-2011 -- which mean lots out there, with parts available.
You can get a remanufactured motor with a 100,000 mile warranty for under $2K
- I want to change my L4 1983 Ranger into a V6? I have a 1983 Ford Ranger L4 2.0 4 speed transmission base model. I'm having engine problems with it. Needs work but i want to put a V6 in it and convert to 4wd. Don't wanna sell it nor junk it. I want a shot at this. This model and yr came with a 2.8 L V6 engine. Would that be sufficient power for the pickup? To convert the pickup to 4wd, what front axle would work best?
- 1983 ford ranger top speed? I have a 1983 ford ranger 2.3 literthat i'm getting running wondering top speed and acceleration thanks! Bought it cheap restoring it. I'm just curious I know its not fast but I was driving it home and it topped out at about 57 and I have a feeling it will go faster but I won't know until I get it fixed which could be a long while, the carb. Was ****** and all the vacuum lines are plugged its along way before its restored.

I have a 1983 ford ranger, I come on here when I can't find something out about it, The dash lights do not come on and I don't know why everything else works except the dash lights, I don't understand, I haven't checked any fuses yet I will do that tomorrow, but I don't think that is the case since it is wired to the headlights which work perfectly fine, thanks!
- 1983-1988 Ford Ranger for first car? Hello I'm looking for a first car and have been thinking about many different cars. I like old cars and I have a 1966 vw beetle project that I'm working on. For my first car I thought a mid 80s Ford ranger would be a good truck to get because it is a small truck that gets good gas mileage and I wouldnt have to work on it all the time. I thought it would be good to have so I could haul stuff and carry vw parts and tow my beetle. Any thoughts?
