How to know if my 2000 ford ranger has pulse vacuum hub locks?

My 2000 ford ranger 4x4 xlt. 4.0 engine, has been making a humming noise for some time now on the front driver's side hub. And I know what wheel it is. I looked for prices online but it gives me 2 options. With or without pulse vacuum hub locks. I'm handy, so I was wondering if anybody could tell what steps to take in order for me to physically find out, or the differences between both hubs. I've asked in many autoshops and they don't know. And some mechanics, but they want to charge me in order to find out.

Are ford ranger body parts for a 4 cyl and v6 interchangeable?

I have a 2004 ford ranger 2.3. I went to a salvage yard to get a hood for my truck since mine was really bent. The guy had one hood left and he said it should work. I put it on my truck but it would not close. I slammed it down and still would not close. The shape looks like it belongs to my truck but it just wouldn't close. All sales are final so i couldn't return the hood. I put the old hood back on and that one closes properly

Need advice for first truck purchase?

I'm coming close to having to purchase my first vehicle. I'm going to be buying a small truck; Ford Ranger or Toyota Tacoma type vehicle. I will need this vehicle to drive me to and from school and also from work and home. The average KM back and forth will be approximately 100+KM.

Now, the question I'm asking is what small truck is the best to buy under $5000? I want a vehicle that will last at that price and be able get me where I have to go efficiently on gas and maintenance. I don't want to be spending ton of money repairing it, but doing the things such as oil changes and what not is obviously not a problem at all.
