It started by getting hard to shift into third gear when driving. Soon after, it wouldn't release whatsoever. Got new cylinders. Bled the system for three days. Got another set of new cylinders and bench bled it. Didn't help. The pedal feels mushy. Took the tranny out. No spring loose from the Clutch as some mentioned might be the problem.
Everything appears to be as it should be. Any ideas?
I have a 2000 Ford Ranger with a blown head gasket. It has a brand new radiator, the air works, and speakers and a head unit in it. Its a single cab. Trying to see how much i could get for it or at least how much to ask on craigslist.
I have a 2002 automatic Ford Ranger. This issue has gotten progressively worse over the past few months. Initially, on accasion, it would stall when I was shifting to reverse from park. It would sit there a couple of seconds, then eventually shift into reverse and be fine.
After a while, it also started pausing when shifting into drive as well, and it started doing both more often. Within the past couple of weeks, it has also started occasionally stalling while driving, usually when I have to slow down.
Finally, this morning, I got it to go into reverse, and it stopped moving. I could rev the engine, but it wouldn't go anywhere. I tried shifting to drive, still wouldn't go anywhere. After a bit, I shifted it into first gear, and it started driving.
There's about 220,000 miles on it. I'm thinking it's probably the transmission going bad. What do you think?
I took the truck threw a mud hole. Made it threw then truck stalled. I got it to start back up but it was blowing out some smoke so friends convinced me to just let it sit and dry. I did that and now it won't start at all. It acts like it wants to but just won't.
I have a 91 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6 five speed. I know it's not an idea vehicle to fix but I enjoy the vehicle much. I would to fix it up, I know to give it a better performance that I have to make a lot of things custom. One thing I'd like to do is change it to a six speed, would it be wise to do so and is it possible? I'm hoping for a little bit gas mileage doing this and maybe faster acceleration?
Trying to find location of ecm/computer on a 1994 ford ranger, bing.com isn't giving me any help. Or you tube. I've heard under the dash, in the kick panels, between the brake booster and firewall. Anyone have a clue?
They came out of a ford, but they look like ford ranger keys. I don't understand why they work on my friends 01 Silverado and not my 04?
Okay so I have a 98 Ford ranger 4.0 4x4. And the transmission went out. And I found a couple transmissions. And I'm wondering if they will fit. I think they will but want to make sure. The trannys. Are from a 2002 ranger 4.0 4x4. And the other from I think 01 4.0 4x4. If they fit what all will I need to do different or will they just bolt up with no problem thank you
I have the 'check engine' light on, I went to get it checked and they gave me the code- P0457 EVAP small leak detected. ECM has detected a large leak in the EVAP System during a system monitor test. Probable cause- defective, loose or missing gas cap. - EVAP canister broke, hose cracked or not connected. Purge or vent solenoid defective- Vacuum leak at engine. I notice a fuel odor when the truck is on and the gas mileage / MPG. Is lower then average. If I drive 45 Minutes down the freeway, the gas odometer goes down like if the gas tank had a leak. Is there some way to check the Evap Canister/hose or the Vent solenoid? Where is it located? Is it expensive to fix?

2002 Ford Ranger XLT
I have an 88 Ford Ranger and the valve cover gaskets were leaking so I have decided to change them. I haven't started in the left side yet but so far on the right side I have unbolted all 8 bolts, unplugged the wiring harness, and unplugged the fuel filter but now I have a problem. The freon line is in my way so that I can't get the cap out of the truck. I've tried wiggling it and turning it ever which way it can go but it just will not come out of there because of that line. Is there anything I can do to unplug that without freon going everywhere or is there another way to get it out? I've tried looking online but can't find anything.
