My 2007 Ford Ranger is tilted towards the passengers side, how to fix?
It's a 2007 Ford ranger v6 3.0L sport 2wd extended cab. Just bought it a few days ago and noticed the entire truck is slightly tilted towards the passengers side. Not really even that noticeable and probably isn't an issue. But it really bothers me for some reason. I've read online it's a common with the rangers but I couldn't find any solutions for it. Is there any video tutorials out there? Maybe a part to install? I would send it to a repair shop but I'm not sure how much something like this would cost.
It probably was in a huge accident and is all ascue, if they didn't fix it properly at the shop where they have all those tools, how on earth can you do it? And how is that not a big deal is beyond me - if a car is tilted wouldnt it wrong all aerodinamics? How will it turn or brake?
I have seen that on the road sometimes. A truck going down the road at a slight list. I have always thought it had to do with a worn or damaged spring on that side. Maybe take it to a mechanic and have them check it out.
A mechanic checking the truck on a lift will give you a proper diagnosis.
A slight amount of lean or drop to the right side is normal in an empty vehicle depending on if you're sitting in it or a near empty fuel tank if the tank is mounted on the drivers side. Spring rates at the factory are designed/chosen to allow the vehicle to settle down a bit on the driver side to level out once you are sitting in the vehicle with a full tank of gas. That can be a few hundred pounds of difference between empty and loaded which can affect how the vehicle sits when empty/unloaded… Especially lighter vehicles.
But given the age of the truck, you might have also some weak springs that are drooping too much to one side or incorrect springs from the factory or other issues. I've run into that before even on new vehicles… Wrong springs on a rear corner can affect the height of the opposite front corner as well. I had one instance where a brand new GM full size truck had the wrong spring on the left rear which rode too high and also lowered the right front. Most manufacturers have spring charts/codes for each spring for all four corners for vehicles with varying options and labels / tags on each spring to identify them.
A frame shop/body shop or dealer can check the specs for the ride height of the vehicle and measure/see if it's out of specs due to weak springs, wrong springs, weak shocks, accident damage, etc. Check for proper code tags for each spring… A Ford dealer should have charts for codes. Weak shocks can also affect the ride height.
Rangers did also have some issues with that and you may need to install a shim for the springs.
There are two reasons for a vehicle to sag to one side…
First reason would be that there's more weight on one side of the truck. Do you carry extra "stuff" in your truck? If so, shift it around to balance the load.
The SECOND reason would be worn springs/suspension. This would be an expensive fix. If it doesn't really bother you, then leave it. If it ain't broke… Don't fix it!
Have the girlfriend sit on the other side.
- Rattling noise coming from passenger side possibly engine when going up steep hills, for ranger? I ave a 2007 ford ranger and recently when going up hills there has been a rattling noise that seems to come from the passenger side towards the engine or front of the truck. What could cause this? I also recently had an oil change, and they put 5w30 in instead of the recommended 5w20, could any of this be a cause?
- 95 ford ranger leans on drivers side? My 95 ranger is leaning on drivers side just had shocks replaced on truck and passed inspection. What could cause this and should I be concerned. The difference between drivers side and passenger side is about 2 inches
- Popping noise in rear wheels when I shake my truck side to side. What would cause this sound? I have a 2003 ford f150 xlt supercrew and when i turn sometimes it sounds like something falls over in my bed of my truck.( i have nothing in the bed of my truck) so i had someone shake my truck side to side while i climbed under the back by the rear end, and found that my rear wheels (both sides) make a popping noise. What could this be?
- 2007 Ford Expedition vs 2007 Chevy Tahoe vs 2004 Lincoln Navigator? I wanted to get one of these due for the 4 wheel drive in the winter. I live in Boston, so it gets rough. I wanted to get one of these three. And I don't know which one is better. I test drove a 2007 Tahoe, and loved it. Although I never drove an Expedition nor Navigator. (although I drive a Lincoln Continental, so I might understand lincolns performance in a navigator). If anyone has one of these, which one would be better?
