My 2001 Ford Ranger is running rich! CEL is on and it's throwing 2 codes: P1132 & P1152?
Coil pack, spark plugs wires are less then 6 months old. New O2 sensors, TPS, MAF, IAC, new fuel injectors and fuel pressure regulator! Idle rpm is about 1500 when engine is warm and surges when truck is in drive and drops extremely low in reverse. Black smoke has covered exhaust tips and the rich smell is very strong from exhaust while truck is running. Truck has 180,000 miles and is a V6.
You have already replaced several of the parts which can cause these codes so Il only list things you haven't replaced or need to check. The most likely cause is a vacuum leak since you're getting both a lean and rich code.To check for a vacuum leak do this: let engine idle, spray carb cleaner around every gasket, vacuum hose, and vacuum operated component. If the engine suddenly idles up, down, or the engine stalls whatever you just sprayed is where the vacuum leak exists. Be sure to check areas like the large air intake hose, air filter box and any sensor screwed into the box, tops and bottoms of fuel injectors where they fit into the fuel rail and the intake bosses, all intake and throttle body area gaskets, vacuum fittings on and under intake, pcv valve hoses, etc.Visual checks for vacuum leaks are sometimes impossible to find so carb cleaner works better. You can also use a small propane torch with the valve open instead of carb cleaner since its not messy.Vacuum leaks draw propane/carb cleaner
- 1988 mustang gt running rich with idle issues? Hi, first of all just want to let you know its not a vaccuum leak. Freshly built 347. It idles eractic on cold start but then evens out and the cam lopes normally. Idle hangs for a minute if I hit the gas. Throttle cable is not hanging up either. After it reaches operating temperature the idle raises about 2 to 300 rpm? It also is running rich. I cleaned maf and the idle bypass. Thermostat is a 180 degree. I just don't know what else to look at.
- Gasoline vs rich mixture LPG performance? Some people say LPG coverted cars loss of some performance i have weber carbureted ford pinto engine, single point LPG system i can say there's almost no difference at all with advanced timing, high octane LPG and for about 1sec. 4th gear pulling loss its worth for my savings. so, richen up mixture with LPG can reach gasoline performance?
- Ford fiesta running rich? 09 ford fiesta… I was driving today and felt a difference in power saw the engine check light was flashing, checked around and there's oil gathering at my exhaust. Any ideas?
