How to get the title to my truck I just bought?
I bought a small Ford Ranger pickup for only $500.00. I made the first payment and received a receipt. I made the second payment and he refused to give me a receipt. He gave me the keys and the truck. But no title or receipt. Now he said I never paid him and he wants another $250.00. What can I do legally? He refuses to give me back my $500.00. Said he doesn't have to because he is now going to repossess it.
Why did you pay him the 2nd payment without getting a receipt & title?
You didn't buy a truck. You donated $500 to a crook. You learned a $500 dollar lesson. He probably sells that truck a couple of times a month to naive people like yourself. You never buy a vehicle without getting a clear title.
Make an appointment with this guy. Bring all your big brothers and cousins with you especially that 6-5 320 lb former offensive lineman of Fresno State.
You are a victim of a scam. Next time you buy a car from someone, pay in full and get the title. Oh, and get it inspected by a mechanic BEFORE buying.
Sue him, take his to court. File a lawsuit in Small Claims court and make him explain his actions to a judge.
If you say that you paid him and he's saying you didn't them someone is lying. Let the judge figure out whose telling the truth.
The real question here is this. If he refused to give you a receipt, WHY did you give him the money? A receipt is required to prove that you paid. No receipt = no proof.
Sounds like you made a bad deal. You should not have taken the deal or paid money unless it was in writing and he gave you the signed title.
