Ford Ranger- Corvette Motor Swap?

I have a pre-runnered 2004 Ford Ranger & i'm doing an engine swap. Will a Corvette LS7 fit or what work do I need to do for that to fit?

Are you prepared to spend about 5 times more than your truck would be worth after you've done such a complex swap?

Hi so what is the point of trying to install a sports car engine in a 4x4 off road car.

Hmm big Chevy motor into a little Ford truck? I see no problems that a shopping cart full of cash can't fix. Change the engine, transmission, differential, drive shaft, motor and tranny mounts, and the front suspension and you'll be good to go. You'll have spent about 10k on a truck worth 2k but that's ok.

It can be done, but it will be expensive and difficult. You'd come out ahead just to buy a Chevy with a 5.7L V8 from the factory, and modify it.

You'd need custom motor mounts, headers, shift linkages, throttle linkages, air intake, headers, fuel system, electrical system, gauges… The list in endless, and gets expensive quickly.

And when I say custom, I mean starting with raw stock and making it yourself, as there isn't a lot of aftermarket parts for such a combination.

Very tough as the bow tie is a wide engine. That's why a 5.0 or a 351W are so popular - They are fairly narrow…

It has been done http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150844

Theoretically anything can fit. Just depends on how good you are with a sawzall and a welder. We have a truck in our shop that's a 93-97 era ranger with an ls3 from a corvette in the front of it for example. Seen one 4.6 dohc from a crown vic cop car done on the same year range ranger, but he cut everything from the cab forward (except the frame) off the truck and got fully custom.
