Did the Ford Ranger roll over when it was equipped with Firestone tires?
I know of a Ford Explorer use to roll over in the nineties because it was equipped with tire blow out of Firestone tires. Ford Ranger at the time were also equipped with Firestone tires. If a Ford Ranger is equipped with Firestone tires is it really possible for it to roll over like the Ford Explorer.
Anything is possible, though a pickup would have a lower center of gravity and therefore would be less likely to roll over.
Ford Exploders will roll over no matter what brand of tire is on it. It is a little known fact that they continued to suffer left-rear tire failures and roll-overs long after the recall but because these incidents were spread over a hundred different tire brands and models it was more difficult to track.
The defect was in the vehicle, as evidence further by the fact Firestone Wilderness AT tires were only considered defective if mounted on an Exploder.
No not as top heavy as the explororer and they were different firestone tires then the ones recalled
- Can 225/70R16 tires fit on rims that have 225/70r14 tires on them? I have 225/70r14 tires on my Ford ranger. I just got some 225/70r16 tires of the same brand, Cooper, given to me. Will they fit on the 225/70r14 rims or do I need to get rims to fit the 225/70r16.
- Did the Ford Mustang ever come equipped with hubcaps? Wondering if there's ever been a mustang from any generation that had hubcaps standard or as an option?
- Will a set of 235/60-R17 tires fit a vehicle with 225/50-R17 tires currently? If they do I'm assuming there would be a MPH difference on the speedometer. Update: The 60 series set is from a 2014 Ford Focus and are stud-less winter tires. They are to go on a 2012 Ford Fusion.
- Will rims designed to fit 235 tires fit 255 tires? I soon need some new tires for my 2001 Ford Explorer, the current tires are 255/70R16 and I don't plan to change the size when i get new ones. I would like to get new rims with them. I found some that say they fit my car, but it says the rec. Tire size is for 235/70R16. I'm assuming/hoping the rims will still fit but I just want to make sure before I purchase them with the new tires.
